***********************************************************************************

The race organization welcomes you to the Wenatchee Marathon and its related running events. We hosting 3 events for runners and walkers: a marathon, marathon relay, and a half-marathon. In these runs, you will find a scenic, traffic free course featuring apple blossoms, snow-capped mountains and the Columbia River. (Due to course restrictions, no wheelchairs or jogging stollers will be permitted.)

Runners love the traffic-free course, the aid station support and the home town atmosphere. See the results page the for the Wenatchee World article recapping the 2005 event for what to expect.

The Wenatchee Marathon is a 501(c)(3) organization that supports cancer research and local charities.   Cancer research is a special interest of the race’s directors.  Everyone knows someone who has suffered through cancer, and your race directors, Ian and Ted, have both been directly impacted and are committed to doing their part to fight the disease.  You can help.  The Wenatchee Marathon donates all net proceeds to the Vascular Biology Lab at Children’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts aka “Angiogenesis Research Program.”  This lab is making amazing progress.  Please check the cancer research page for updates from the lab on their progress.

USATF certification for the Marathon and 10K courses:

Certification makes the Wenatchee Marathon a Boston Marathon Qualifier.

BREAKING NEWS

8/29/08:  Registration is open for the 2009 race.   A few changes in store this year:  We are discontinuing the 10k and kids race.  We enjoyed providing these races, but the event is evolving with the Marathon Relay, and with the several other local 10ks and kids events, we want to focus on the knitting--which is to provide a great long-distance running event.

Also (and this is exciting) we are moving the start/finish a few blocks north on Wenatchee Avenue to the Performing Arts Plaza.  We are thrilled to offer a start/finish at the same location, in downtown Wenatchee around lots of shops and restaurants, one block from the host hotel.

We hope you can join us for this great event to raise money for cancer research and local charities.
